You are correct, of course, that speed is subservient to correctness. Note that in many systems, especially control systems, correctness also includes timing aspects - if the results are not available on time, the system is not "correct". And even in systems that are not time-critical, usually speed is of at least /some/ relevance. It may be that Deep Thought would have given the correct question for the answer 42, but with a 7 million year run-time, it was not that helpful.
