I'm using Linux Mint Cinnamon 17.3 64bit.

I hear people talking about Ubuntu, or MATE or KDE etc and I've tried a 
few other versions (distros) of linux and have never quite seemed to 
find one I like.

I'd almost list to have a table of DE and features etc for each distro 
to pick from.

I'm happy with mint cinnamon.  It has a simple windows like menu, 
categories breakdown in the menu, no big gaudy icon type side bars for a 
menu.  I can have panel at top and or bottom.

But I wonder if there are other DE that are similar or distros that are 
similar and might be better.   I guess I chose mint because it was high 
on distro watch so I guessed it was best.   Maybe there isn't but I'd 
take suggestions.   I can load any in my VM and test.
