Jeese - alternatively jeeze. (American English slang) A semi-expletive
expression of exasperation.

(monoglossic?) Not silly when any honest attempt is made to reach a
mutual understanding, instead of actively looking for some perceived
slight. Colloquial expressions are often misinterpreted when the
listener has a different life experience, possibly a different language
experience. In fact colloquial expressions can be quite humorous when
taken literally, that does not infer a superiority / inferiority or any
other hierarchical relationship.

from my reply:
Evertjan: "If my doctor prescribes me daily exercises, would it help my
aching back if you 'do' those for me?"

parsed thusly:

Evertjan: "If my doctor prescribes me daily exercises, would it help my
aching back if you 'do' those for me?"
^^^^^^^^^

identification of person making the statement that follows.

Evertjan: "If my doctor prescribes me daily exercises, would it help my
aching back if you 'do' those for me?"
           ^
opening quotation mark. typically used to indicate a quotation

Evertjan: "If my doctor... <snip>"
            ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
The actual quotation minus asides. Granted it was minus the header info
typical in usenet quotes (for pithiness), but the actual words are
verbatim, and one would expect their original author might recognize them.

BTW I think the correct expression is "a breach of Usenet Netiquette"
not "an insult to Usenet Netiquette."

Hopefully my previous remarks also address this.

Grasping for straws (another colloquial expression. Let me know if you
don't understand this one) in an effort to justify your comments?

Never mind - American colloquial expression meaning forget it, move on,
drop the subject, etc.

I'm sure you do. When you actually recognize it.
