This is a thread about finding the best Google MyTracks replacement.

Therefore, I'm not even going to respond to the two obvious trolls:
- Frank Slootweg (how much value die *he* add to this thread?)
- tlvp (has never once added technical value to *any* thread!)

Back to adding on-topic technical value, after testing out all the viable
Google-recommended MyTracks replacement, my conclusion is that none of them
replace MyTracks functionality of:
a. Offline realtime GPS tracking & topographic mapping
b. Saving KML/GPX files to the device & displaying in real time
c. Realtime statistics such as elevation, distance, time, etc.

The closest of the Google-suggested apps was the combination:
A. GPS Logger for Android, by Mendhak

The next few apps to test will be the following, including the one Adrian
suggested earlier:

Note that Google had no space while the Daniel Qin app has a space.

Today I wasn't able to walk due to an injury suffered yesterday, but
tomorrow I'll test out Adrian's suggested My Tracks & let you know how it
works with respect to Google MyTracks.

When I started Daniel Qin's "My Tracks", it opened to an almost blank page.
I hit the red circled plus sign at the bottom right, and it showed my
location on a Google street map, where successive pinching zoomed in to my
location.

The underlying Google map had Traffic, Satellite, and Terrain options, so I
chose the Terrain setting. Tomorrow I'll test it out, but it seems to start
working simply by hitting the arrowed play-shaped button, which actually
records (normally a "record" button is a circle and not an arrow).

Let me know if you have better ideas for Google MyTracks replacements.
