Oh, I haven't forgotten anything here - and you post no shortage of
reminders.

But the reality is that CAlive is, at the moment, very much vapourware.
 It will be a /long/ time before it is ready for use.  That means you
are stuck using existing real-world programming languages and tools to
do your development work.  You seem determined to use C (via a C++
compiler) despite how much you seem to dislike the language and despite
its questionable suitability for developing a compiler or IDE.  I am
merely trying to give you ideas that might help you use C in a way that
would bother you less - if you can work around the features or
restrictions of C that cause you most irritation, then you can be more
productive and happier when working with it (until CAlive is bootstrapped).
