No, I'm not for fracking. But I'm also not in favor of making up false 
anti-fracking propaganda just to express my opposition. Doing that makes 
one a noncredible opponent and is counterproductive. Like you, John. You 
dislike something, and so you make up crap propaganda about it to try to 
get it outlawed.

I read a book recently about the demise of the Supercollider in Texas. 
There was a real estate developer in Maypearl, Texas, who was going 
around spreading a rumor among the occupants that the magnets were so 
powerful that they would pull schoolchildren down to the ground by their 
dental braces. There was a town hall meeting where scientists gathered 
to answer questions for people, and they had to spend a half hour trying 
not to laugh at the braces question. It turned out the real estate 
developer was there, and was pointed out by some of the people there who 
had gotten the rumor from him. He was unrepentant, saying that he felt 
he had the right to say anything at all to preserve his livelihood. Of 
course, he had to move out of town after that, because no one believed a 
thing he said after that.

So John, do you endorse the actions of that guy?
