I can imagine. I take it you never used either the uniFLEX or OS-9 level 2 operating systems then? They both used an OS-controlled memory map so that each logged-on user had their own user memory space plus access to the common area containing the SVC entry points, etc. I used uniFlex for about a year. It ran on SWPTC hardware and seemed to be quite stable and reliable. With 256K installed it gave reasonable performance running the Sculptor 4GL on three or four terminals, its main limitation being the speed of the 5.25" hard drives available at the time. I never got my hands on OS-9 level 2, but did use OS-9/68K for many years. That was OS-9 level 1 (multi-user on a 64K 6809!) ported from the 6809 to 68xxx hardware and with correspondingly bigger memory and hugely improved usability. My first kit ran on a 68008 with 1MB RAM and fairly soon got replaced by a 68020 with 8MB RAM.
