I had a bit of experience with JWS a few years back but haven't touched it since then. I'm trying to get back into it but am getting stymied at the very beginning. I'm trying to run the setclock.jnlp application at http://mindprod.com/webstart/setclock.html on my laptop, running Windows 10. After I click on the Launch button, it starts to download and, at about the 3/4 point on the progress indicator, I get a modal dialog that says: ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Java Application Blocked Application blocked by Java Security. For security, applications must now meet the requirements for the High or Very High security settings or be part of the Exception Site List, to be allowed to run. Name: SetClock Location: http://www.mindprod.com Reason: Your security settings have blocked a self-signed application from running. [OK] ----------------------------------------------------------------------- I previously set the security level to High in the Security tab of the Java Control Panel, checked the "Enable Java Content in the browser" checkbox, and added http://www.mindprod.com to the exception list. I'm running a current version of Firefox. What else do I need to do? I found the big warning at the top of http://mindprod.com/jgloss/javawebstart.html but I'm not clear if that supersedes information lower on the page or just supplements it. Is it relevant to my problem? I've tried running the sample applications in the Oracle tutorial about JWS but all it does is nag me to install a newer JRE when I already have the latest one. (The Java Control panel sees both 1.7.0_80 and 1.8.0_91.) I tried asking on the Oracle community forums for Java a few days back but no one has chosen to answer my question. Can you give me any information or troubleshooting steps so that I can get past my problem? I'm just spinning my wheels here.... -- Rhino
