There is nowhere written
the hydrogen gas has to be used the way you have supposed.

More and more electricity is produced each year
via cheap solar panels
with peak production during a day and a year.

Therefore there is need to develop energy storage that

- can absorb large amount of energy
- is cheap and simple
- can be used for long term storage

One of ways is hydrogen and derived products like methane.
Methane is already used to power cars as CNG / LNG.
