Any charged particle can make those spirals. The radius of curvature of 
the spiral is directly related to the charge and momentum of the 
particle: R = P/qB, where P is the momentum, q is the charge, and B is 
the strength of the applied magnetic field. Those charged particles can 
be electrons or pions or protons or muons or a few other long-lasting 
charged particles. The identification of which of these it is, is 
usually not just by looking at those curved tracks but also the profile 
of the energy deposit in the calorimeter.
