Linux isn't "thriving," it's *surviving*. Since it a pretty shitty combination of a number of elements developed by a number of people, nobody owns the whole thing. As a result, if KDE dies, Linux sticks around. If gstreamer's development ends, Linux remains. It's hard to kill something which isn't owned by anyone. Linux development is indeed thriving, but that doesn't mean that it has reached the same level of quality as commercial products like OS/2 have even today. -- Slimer
