It would be beneficial for the developers of LibreOffice to do what
Microsoft did when they started Vista and simply rewrite much of what
already exists. Vista might have been a mess, but 7 ended up being
perfect to the point that people are very reluctant to move away from
it. There's no reason for LibreOffice's developers to keep releasing new
versions so they can just take what they have, freeze it for a while all
the while optimizing the code to create a product which loads faster and
is more consistent with the rest. People will end up having to wait
longer for a new version but who cares? It's not like they're getting
paid for it anyway.
