Unfortunately I know nothing about K9. Is it this software:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/K9_Web_Protection
Is it possible for you to try as a one-off downloading your email with
just TP and Stunnel, leaving out K9? If that works, then it might narrow
it down a bit.
Have you switched on TP's logging and Stunnel's logging? Does either log
reveal anything? Does K9 produce a log?
I take it that the bit of the Stunnel config that you've shown is just
the bit for POP3. Could you show the whole of it, just in case there's
something there that is relevant?
I've just tried searching for "K9 with stunnel" on my browser, which
turned up a number of hits. The first one was this:
<https://www.stunnel.org/mailman3/hyperkitty/list/stunnel-users@stunnel.org/thread/C6HTZMLNAFA2FKSL7VH5USURMLQXDYJQ/?sort=thread>
where the person seemed to have had a similar problem to you, but oddly
found that reloading the Stunnel config fixed it.
