That's different. A mysterious stranger or an eavesdropper is not 
someone you've entered into a contractual arrangement with. You have not 
given permission to an eavesdropper to peek at your doings.

If someone offered a free service to be your assistant, helping arrange 
your schedule, reminding you of things you need to do, making you aware 
of changing circumstances that you may need to respond to, handling some 
menial tasks so that you don't have to, and fending off people who want 
to get in touch with you about business you have no interest in, would 
you be interested in that free service?

Yes, I believe a lot of people would be interested in that, especially 
if it is free.

Now, if in the contract you signed for this free service, suppose it was 
clear that the assistant was going to be with you a good portion of the 
day, aware of the things you're saying, the people you're talking to, 
things that are on your to-do list. Suppose it was clear that you were 
authorizing this agent to go out and buy some things for you and knew 
your credit card details. Would you still be interested in that free 
service?

Yes, I believe a lot of people would still be interested in that, 
especially if it is free.

Now, what if this contract also specified that the assistant could 
assemble and analyze the data gathered from you and all the other 
clients the assistant serves? What if this contract specified that the 
analyzed data, appropriately anonymized, would be sold to 3rd parties 
you don't know?

A lot of people say, sure, as long as the data is anonymized, go for it. 
It's a free service and the assistant has to make a living somehow, right?
