The junior high that I taught in, 87-94, had both Apple II's and IBM's.  
The teacher who had the Apples had a couple of printers, and kids got to 
print banners.  The head of the dept. had an IBM class where kids were 
learning how to use Word Perfect.

My college used Unix for the entire campus, with VT100 terminals all over 
the campus, especially in the library.  In the computer dept., which was 
in the math bldg., they had IBM workstations running AIX.
