Yep, desktops and the pager have been in Fvwm (both versions)
for a very long time.
I find the easiest way to move windows to desks or pages is to
make the window sticky.  Once you've done that, the window is shown
on all pages/desks, so you simply move to the location you want to
drop the window and "unstick" it.

I'm a stickler for the window manager NOT putting things on the screen
I don't want.  So, I run without a visible pager or taskbar.  I just
use hot keys to get where I want.

I also designate certain windows to only start on a specific page.

We'll see how much of this technology gets into windows.
I somehow doubt they'll get all the necessary pieces.
