They're not in the C standard; they're specified by POSIX. Windows has
some support for some POSIX functions; I don't do Windows programming,
so I don't know the details.

When you find something that you don't know how to do, rather than
jumping to the conclusion that it's impossible and therefore the whole
thing is useless, you might consider *asking* how to do it. In this
case there's a simple answer, which others have posted (use fileno()).
