They're direct quotes from people that know a heck of a lot more than you about the effort involved to sync Android and mainline kernels. I would only consider Hyper-V integration a "massive chore" if people who know what they're talking about said it was. I defer to the experts: I'd come to you for advice on QAing Windows code and weekly allowances from the wife, but I'd listen to Torvalds and Kroah-Hartman for advice on merging Android and mainline.
