Microsoft bear a lot of responsibility for movement to 'the cloud', by
ruining the personal computer with an insecure, DLL-hell, registry
bloated, chaotically evolved (Win16, Win32, Win32S, OLE, COM, DCOM,
.NET, Silverlight, HTML5, etc) platform that has made local installation
and upgrade of software so egregious that zero-install / remote desktop
has become the only way to go for IT. And this then gets turned into the
'software metering', all your data is belong to us., uber-lockin, etc.
