Yes, but even 10 years ago, when one of our customers wanted an 8051 
"because we always have used that", it was just a conservative, uninformed 
decision, not the best choice.  The people who had been behind that 
decisions have all retired some years ago.  The chip is still in production.

That's how conservative decisions work: They are made by people who decide 
once for their entire career.  These people need to retire to make different 
decisions, and they will be done, and yes, probably again for the entire 
career.
