That is not true at all! I did this three times because I believed the 
same as you do. But it isn't true! Ubuntu Live does scan the Windows 
partition and does grab the Windows swapfile for its own use. The first 
time it happened I thought it was some sort of fluke. The second time I 
had my doubts. The third time I was absolutely positive it was Ubuntu Live.
