Are those Linux tablets? For values of Linux equaling "Not Android" and "Not Chrome"? > as for reading text on a phone, it works perfectly fine, especially on People with different eye defects than you or I disagree. > linux wasn't designed for touch, nor was windows for that matter. X11 wasn't designed for touch. Linux is perfectly capable of running a different GUI and having a different experience, ChromeOS and and Android are specific examples of that happening. Wayland is supposed to be another. I briefly tried MGR (https://hack.org/mc/mgr/) sometime before I was married, so 20+ years ago; it's a GUI on Linux that is not X11 at all. > adding a keyboard and mouse makes it effectively a laptop. The Cambrio has a detachable keyboard which I anticipate not using except during set-up. The scenario I'm looking at is tinkerable home automation at prices cheaper than industrial panel mount computers. I don't need, for example, "drag and drop". I need a network server that I can apply soft push buttons like "pause this job" and "reprint last job" to. Touch screen emulating a mouse that clicks but doesn't move normally in X11 is perfectly fine for me. I've already done it with a smaller non-tablet format device. Apple's hardware is particularly ill-suited for what I want because it is by hardware and software design intended to be a closed system. Android is a little better, but has serious obstacles in the way. ChromeOS is designed to for web client niche and similar to Android. Windows tablets exist, but I really have no relevant experience in writing GUI or servers for Windows. The best thing about them is they seem the easiest to re-OS to Linux. Elijah ------ has priced out those industrial panel mount systems
