First I would look at the SMART.

Ub has a smartctl in the package smartmontools.

Checking the health of your SSD from GNU/Linux

or gnome-disk-utility
http://askubuntu.com/questions/325283/how-do-i-check-the-health-of-a-ssd
How do I check the health of a SSD?

... but also read the comments section in the 2nd one.

If you were thinking about Hiren's for its virtual miniXP environment,
it also has quite a lot of hdd utilities -- see the numerous utilities
in the hdd section of hiren's on this page
http://www.hiren.info/pages/bootcd

Questions about utilities to check ssd/s suggest Crystal which is on
Hiren's.
