Yes, i red it all, no mention of something related to ata or speed or drives but 
perhaps they (HP) are ashame to have done such a thing (not considering newer 
drives like SSD) and they included a fix whitout telling it to public.... 
because..... (read ahead)

a) try to flash the latest bios?

Vic RR Garcia suggest:

"Looks like a miss-configured BIOS, check your settings,
...."
like you and i thought it too, but looking n. times in all the bios menus and 
options, there is NOTHING to tune or setup ata speed or any other hdd or sdd 
parameter....

First I would look at the SMART.

Ub has a smartctl in the package smartmontools.

If you were thinking about Hiren's for its virtual miniXP environment, 
it also has quite a lot of hdd utilities  -- see the numerous utilities 
in the hdd section of hiren's on this page

Questions about utilities to check ssd/s suggest Crystal which is on 
Hiren's.

OK i DL,burn,boot hiren miniXp and try to run sp62135.exe which is supposed to 
contain the last bios but it gives a lot of errors:

GetFirmwareEnvirnomentVariable ERROR_INVALID_FUNCTION!!.

Perhaps because this sp... is supposed to run with win7 and i have hiren mini XP.

Now i feel i'm going off topic... so somebody may help or suggest another NG 
where to continue to try?

I still think you are focusing on/ chasing/ the wrong pony.

This is supposed to be about troubleshooting whether an SSD problem is 
hardware related or something else.  You are currently focusing on 
trying to run a BIOS upgrade which according to HP's sketchy notes has 
nothing to do with SSD or hdd driver issues.

Further, you are observing the SSD issues in a linux distro, but you are 
spending energy trying to run a BIOS upgrade program which was designed 
to be run on Win7-8 OS.

When you had the Hiren's booted, such as Crystal Info was right there 
for evaluating SSD function, but you didn't say anything about anything 
other than that Win7-8 BIOS .exe.

I think it would be useful for you to know if you have some kind of SSD 
hardware issue or some kind of linux related SSD issue and I don't think 
trying to figure out how to achieve some kind of Win7-8 environment to 
run a BIOS upgrade shot in the dark is going to advance your 
troubleshooting at all.
