For those who are less familiar with LXDE, this is a very useful guide^1
by Doug Willett, who also posts a number of useful lxde advice on such
as lxde forum as seppalta.

The lxlinux.com site also has some useful pages which aren't linked from
the front page, such as the one for LXLE, a nice lxde distro.

^1 http://lxlinux.com/ Guide To Setting Up LXDE, The Lightweight Champion

Recently the everyday linux user Gary Newell wrote an opinion piece^2 on
his recommended replacement for XP being PC Linux OS (the Mate v.) as
opposed to Ubuntu and a couple of bloggers and podcasters took him to
task^3 for not choosing Mint (which LTS v. based on Ub 14.04 isn't going
to be ready for another month or so).

I found myself wondering why, if he were going to go the PCLOS route
(which has the advantage of being rolling which Linux Mint isn't), why
he chose the MATE v. instead of the LXDE v.
