That was "way back".

I remember having to fuss with UHF tuners 35 years ago, and that was bad 
enough (though they had a reduction drive that kicked in if you backed up 
in the direction you'd just come).  ON the other hand, continuous tuning 
did away with the flaky contacts on the stepped tuners.  By the time the 
family tv set was scrapped, you'd have to fuss a lot every time you 
changed channels, to make sure the contacts were making contact.
