If you remove/reinstall it will work without set up.  All the setup files 
and info is in ~/.pan2 and that won't get removed if you remove Pan.  
There also ought to be a way using your package manager to force a 
reinstall of a package.  But that may not fix anything since your 
problems might well relate to an underlying library or other support file/
program
