Some do. Some do not. And there are many places the GUI is a great solution.

I started with Mac, DOS, and UNIX on the same day in 1987. Lead me to like
Macs and UNIX but not DOS. I have no public comments from '87, but as early

But UNIX does have some advantages over the Mac... a CLI
would be a great addition to the Mac. I would say that
between Mac and UNIX you have the best operating systems
around.

The Mac is not the end all in computer technology. Where it
fails, UNIX excels. Between the two, there is almost no task
that computers would be used for that can not be done. And
one or the other will beat the competition in almost every
area.

And this helps explain your preference for Linux. If you use the CLI mostly
then it is an excellent solution. Absolutely no argument from me on that.
For much of the work I do that would be acceptable solution. Heck, I used to
use Usenet on a CLI and it worked fine. But I also do a lot of image work
and video screencasting, and even with things such as email I will often
attach images (which could be done by the command line, but for images it is
nice to have a visual guide to which you want!) and I often even edit those
images.
Even thinks like web browsing are done FAR better these days with a GUI
(though I recall the days of Gopher and the like).

Makes sense. As I show above, I liked the early Macs but really wanted them
to have a UNIX-like command line. Apple listened to me with OS X. :)
Actually also used AU/X... but it was not a common thing for Apple.

I do most things in the GUI but am happy to have the CLI. Was never an
expert with it and have gotten rusty over the decades, but still do use it.
Even when not using it directly I have Automoator scripts and the like which
are tied to the command line tools.
