No, it's a reasonable approach to a simple problem. The code is rather
bloated though, and it may accept filenames you don't really mean to
accept (it's not easy for me to say, but it looks wrong).

Most C programmers would probably write
while (*ptr == ' ' || *ptr == '\t')
++ptr;
if (*ptr == 0)

and some would write just two lines:

Did you intend the input "module ;" to report "Last module was: ;" but
"module x;" to report "Last module was: x"? It seems wrong in that
commas, semicolons, equals, spaces and tabs appear to be designed as
filename terminators.
Given the subject line, I think the thread should include how this
program might be written by a C programmer. Here's one way... 23 lines
vs. 91.

Since it can be done at no cost, I've made the program more flexible in
what file it processes, and I signal the only real error case (there
being no "module" line) to the system.
Of course, this does not accept lone ";", "," or "=" as a module name.
