Curious spin. My spin: it's called using words correctly. There is no doubt you have a terrible C implementation (well, two actually, since you also report absurdly slow times for what you call "tcc"), but I don't see any evidence that gcc (or tcc for that matter) is the problem. If you wanted to fix it, you'd have to know what components are really contributing to the times you see. -- Ben.
