Rather it's the other way.  There are pre-built binary packages for just
about everything, and the desire to build from source is seen as weird
or advanced (IMO this is not a good thing).  Packaging systems attempt
to track dependencies and they usually work, though they've had to get
more sophisticated over the years as the number of packages and
dependencies has increased.  Debian's apt packages have a huge userbase,
and Nixos/Guix use a new technical approach that is supposed to fix
remaining snags.  

I don't think there's such a thing as "Linux support" (unless you go
through a company like Red Hat) but I've generally been able to get good
help with Linux issues on IRC or internet forums like Stack Exchange.
