It runs as an application inside the host system, like any other
application.  The whole guest OS usually sits inside a single
file on the host.  It's very easy to install, and to remove.

I run a Windows XP guest in VB within my Slackware box for
work.  It works well on the latest multi-cpu systems.
No more dual booting for me.
