I always more or less considered usenet as Fidonets replacement, because before usenet, thats what we used, problem with forums is, in what I've seen in the past, html code in posts - html is blocked here, if I want to waste storage and have 75K articles instead of 3K, I'll re-enable binaries before allowing html :)
