A Forth standard that forces us to increase complexity has something wrong with it. Where the standard increases complexity, either conceptually or of implementations, we should change the standard and not Forth. I'll be happy to remove [COMPILE] as a standard word, but we have to have the discussion about what we want compilation and interpretation to mean before proposing to add or remove words. I have been involved with the standards process since the 1990s as far as I remember.
