just type
  LOCATE DUP
and the source code for DUP appears. LOCATE is where we live
when debugging a target. The cross-compiler stays alive after
completion so that you can use tools like LOCATE.

The default installation with AIDE is set up to run the editor through
AIDE. If you do not like AIDE, run the compiler directly and the
command line stuff works fine.

Actually, please used to another Forth are our most difficult clients.
A major problem is that they assume that all Forth systems are the
same. They really are not.
