I think the heap space in a 32 bit platform is somewhat limited. 
Of course in the 64 bit OS a lot things will be different. 

But as long as the hard disk  and the dram  are both  of some finite sizes, 
I just model the heap space to be of a finite size  in my programs. 

I am not interested in trivial programs.
