Energy is a conserved quantity.
Were it not for friction, objects in motion would retain all their kinetic
energy (instead of exchanging it for heat) and continue moving forever.
In outer space, there is virtually nothing that could cause friction: outer
space is virtually *empty*. Why do we know that? Basically because we can
observe stars and galaxies that are very far away. If there would be
anything significant between them and us, we would not observe them as we
do.
Your argument is that of Aristotle (384–322 BCE): that a force would be
required to keep objects in motion.
But Isaac Newton already knew in 1687 (CE) that Aristotle was wrong, because
Aristotle never considered friction.
[Leonard Susskind humorously says in his “Classical Mechanics” lecture
(I am paraphrasing him): “Had Aristotle gone ice-skating, he would have
known that it is friction that slows down moving objects. But he lived
in Greece, so he never could go ice-skating.”]

This abstractly depicts *our* *observable* universe. But according to the
BB theory, everything is moving away from everything (metric expansion),
like the raisins in an expanding raisin bread:

So the observed effect is the same for every observer in the universe (each
observer just sees different astronomical objects receding from them).

“Want to believe” is well-worded by you for a change. It shows that
different to science, belief is not at all grounded in observed fact, but
*only* in hearsay and wishful thinking. Conclusions drawn from it are
therefore inherently fallacious.
