I suspect that is exactly where it will turn out to fail. One needs the
interface to stand out enough, so that you know what is interface and
what is content. The original aqua was very glossy, too much IMO, so
that when it was toned down that was an improvement and is the reason
I'm still on Mavericks. Then they toned it down to next to nothing with
the flat look we see in versions after Mavericks.

If the interface recedes too much then it becomes unusable.
