then it's not identical.

identical means exactly the same. when one or more attributes are not
the same, then it is not identical. 

if you don't understand the basics, how could you ever understand the
more complicated stuff (which isn't even that complicated)?

if the create date is not modified when making a copy, then it most
certainly will work. 

on the other hand, if you want to intentionally choose a copy method
that does modify the create date, then obviously it won't work. either
fix the copy routine or choose a different method. very simple.

since the create date is preserved on the mac, it will work.
