I do see simple graphs being handy. If you want complex graphs, then a
proper graphic application or Excel is better idea, afterall, FileMaker
is a database application, not a statistical / mathematical analysis
package. From memory newer versions of Filemaker do now having graphic
abilities. I wasn't really thinking of those as "graphics" though.

You can probably do that with a static JPEG / TIFF map and a set of X-Y
co-ordinates fairly "easily". Given the scale, it would never be
accurate anyway, altough I guess if you wanted to be really silly you
could do zooming, etc.

I haven't tried it, but it would make more sense to use 1-pixel
Container fields instead of Text fields, and that should then work in
any version of Filemaker.
