What you see is what you get from me in this thread. Although your kind
perception of greater wit on my part flatters me, it's undeserved. Peter
actually talks about Columbia University from time-to-time.
At the risk of boring my readers to death, allow me to note that
Barnard's only role was to make me vicariously aware of Low Library.
Although the vista of Low Library from an outdoor perspective in my
dreams arguably counts as precognition, there's still no scientific
evidence, from Sagan's perspective.
When Low Library appears in my dreams, it's full of books, but it's
not full of rows of books in standard shelves. Rather, it's a labyrinth
of small rooms and only the /walls/ of each room are plastered with
shelves that hold books. The shelves reach all the way to the ceiling.
You need a ladder to reach the top shelves. But, it's a dream, so you
get to go hunt for a ladder, if you really want it that bad.
Pedestal display tables occupy the middle of rooms. The pedestal's
table holds one layer of books arranged with their spines facing upward.
It's absolutely the stupidest oneiric library ever. Because it takes
you forever to root through things. It's totally unorganized and you
only find books by happenstance. The library's lack of rhyme or reason
makes it picture perfect to deliver dream frustration.

Thank you,

Don
