_Broca's Brain_ contains a section named "Astral Projection." In that
section Sagan proposes an experiment whereby a subject enters an
astral projection state and goes to a bookshelf to read the title of a
book, which was previously unknown to the subject.
A few pages later Sagan segues to "Precognitive Dreams." He talks
about his one failed precognitive dream, which sounds more like a panic
attack. He talks about his panic attack for a page, then he moves on to
hoaxes, none of which are pertinent to panic attacks nor precognitive
dreams.
A few of my dreams featured astral projection, which became apparent
to me only after-the-fact. A few of my dreams were lucid, which was
known to me at the time of the dream. No dream of mine was ever a lucid
astral projection, the sort of dream that Sagan wants.
A few of my dreams were precognitive in a general sense. Unbeknownst
to me at the time of my dream and for years afterward, Columbia
University's Low Library appeared in a couple of my dreams. Its interior
had so many rooms filled with so many books that it was impossible for
me to navigate all of the way through it.
Some time ago a sweet old great-grandmotherly church lady was
mentioned by me in rasw. This particular church lady's guilty (or maybe
not so guilty) pleasure is reading gruesome murder fiction. The
bloodier, the better.
It turns out that one of her grandchildren graduated from Harvard
and another graduated from Barnard in NYC. She said her granddaughter
loved NYC. Barnard meant absolutely nothing to me until the church lady
talked about it. Curiosity got the better of me and some Inet research
revealed that it's the sister campus of Columbia University.
Bear in mind, neither Columbia nor Barnard, was ever seen by me in
real life. My Inet quest leads me to believe that you can view Low
Library from the front of Barnard. Regardless, that's the vista that was
in my dream, without me ever experiencing it in real life, until church
lady piqued my interest enough to view it online. FWIW.
Thank you,
