What makes you think that your malloc doesn't already handle
such cases?

Say, have you profiled the code to see what fraction of the time is actually
spent executing the allocator code?

Can you answer the question: how much faster will the program be if 
a magic allocator is substituted which requires zero cycles to execute?

Not knowing these basics is an indicator that you need to study more if you
want to write memory allocators that beat malloc.
