and one that's entirely baseless.

you have yet to give a valid reason why you hate it, other than you had
troubles removing it.

removing software is not a reason to dislike something. a lot of
software is hard to remove, and not just to annoy users. there is
almost always a good reason for having multiple components. itunes
could not do what it does as seamlessly as it does it without those
components, and some of them have benefits outside of itunes (e.g.,
quicktime & bonjour).

what matters is what the software does when it's being used, not what
happens when you want to remove it. 

plus, i doubt you even used it at all. as i recall you said you were
asked to remove it for someone else. 

you also more than likely didn't remove it properly. apple outlines
exactly how.

prices for macs are similar for similar spec hardware. 

what apple doesn't do is make bottom tier products, the $299 netbooks
and the like. the reason those are so cheap is they have lesser specs
(often significantly so) and don't do a whole lot, not because of any
mythical apple tax. 

much of the time, you have to add a lot of stuff (more memory, faster
processor, additional software, etc.) to make it useful, so it's not
nearly as cheap as it seems.

why in the world would itunes mess with embroidery software???

now you're just making up nonsensical reasons to dislike it.

not only does itunes not mess with anything, but it certainly won't
mess with something entirely unrelated even if you wanted it to.

why? millions of users don't find itunes to be a problem.

it's not perfect (nothing is), but it is a lot better than manually
maintaining a file/folder hierarchy, which not only is a pain in the
ass, but very limiting.

there will always be a few who dislike something no matter what it is,
and they tend to be very vocal about it. not surprisingly, they never
actually say *why* they hate it, or they come up with some ridiculous
reason, as you did above.

it is a very good product, but it can't do all of what itunes can do.

*both* are useful, and for different purposes.

for instance, without itunes, you won't be able to sync music so that
the built in music and video players will play it, thereby drastically
limiting your options. you won't have any playlists, smart or
otherwise.

rearranging apps is a lot easier in itunes than on a device (even with
the idiotic new way in ios 7). large files will take a really long time
to transfer versus usb.

you won't be able to make a full backup or restore from it, nor will
you be able to recover a device that for some reason, has a problem
with an over the air update.
