I can't really see the point nowadays. I've bought the odd copy of > Australian and UK MacWorld editions more recently, but the news and > reviews were always way out of date by the time they hit the newsstands. I'm not a subscriber (partly because the postman will riun the magazines trying to stuff them in the letterbox!), but I do have a copy of the UK MacFormat magazine put aside at the locval magazine shop every month ... BUT they come to New Zealand from England via sea (unless you want to pay twice the price for airmail copies), so by the time I read the magazine it's well out of date. I've just collected the "August 2013" issue, which due to crazy dating systems means it was sold in shops in mid-July, and therefore printed in early July and so it was written in June, and I'm reading it in October. > Some articles were decent though, but not worth the price unless I was > travelling and had no internet access. Magazines have become something I > buy in airports. Many magazines these days come as eZines to read on your computer or tablet, which helps lessen the time delay for the reviews, etc. Some alos do daily or weekly updates, although you can also get those to some degree for free via their website. Of course, if you've got a fast internet connection and no data cap worries, then you can just read various websites. I do visit websites like MacRumors.com regularly, but don't have the time to fully read everything in complete detail (especially stuff I'm no hugely interested in), so the magazine comes in handy to fill in some of that. In the old days of course, the magazines were a great way of getting free software via the cover disks and CDs. I'm still using a Photoshop-clone application (under the Classic environment) which I got for free from a magazine cover floppy disk. :-)
