I haven't used this last method since I've only > had the need in the past to disable auto-update on one app. The way to stop those server-side updates isn't trivial if the server is required for normal use such as with Skyica or with WhatsApp, both of which enforce server-side nags which will disable the app after a set period if you don't follow through with the update that it wants you to perform. If the app doesn't need the Internet, then it is trivial to stop it. For example, it looks at apps whose installer is "com.android.vending". When we go into: Play Store -> Profile -> Settings -> Network preferences -> Auto-update apps -> Don't auto-update apps, We are only telling the Play Store: Do not automatically update any apps that the Play Store manages. That includes: a. All apps installed from the Play Store b. All apps sideloaded but still recognized by the Play Store c. System apps that receive updates through the Play Store But it does not include all apps which have updates on the play store. Nor any apps that have updates, but just not on the play store. We've covered many times this topic, where, if we really want to update an app, the google play store is not the way to do it in one simple easy pass.
