Das WSL ist für MS wahrscheinlich ein Abfallprodukt aus der laufenden
Entwicklung gewesen sein. Vielleicht haben sie es vorher schon rein
intern genutzt. Auch nicht zu vergessen, MS war/ist ein großer
Code-Spender für Open Source und Linux. Schon 2018 haben sie ihre 60.000
Patente in das Open Invention Network eingebracht, damit Linux und
andere Open-Source-Projekte sie kostenfrei nutzen können.

Ach ja, Microsofts eigene Linux-Distri ist übrigens "Azure Linux".
