What do you use? youtube hasn't needed flash for nearly a decade. the video does start to play (as does any youtube video), but it's easy to click stop and then click the download button, which is via a browser extension. there are quite a few youtube download extensions for all of the current popular browsers, typically offering a choice of sizes (up to the size that was uploaded), choice of formats (usually flv or mp4, sometimes additional formats) and even just the audio track. here's a screenshot of one such extension <https://addons.cdn.mozilla.net/user-media/previews/full/112/112944.png>
