in itunes, connect the device you want to work with, then click on the
device name in the left sidebar, which you may need to enable if you
haven't done so already (view menu).i don't know why it's now hidden by
default, but it is. 

you should see a summary tab of the device. next click the apps tab at
the top of that section and choose which apps you want on the device.
click on the music and other tabs for other content. 

repeat for each device you have. whatever you choose to sync will be
tracked separately.
