because almost nobody buys spare batteries, even for cameras (unless
the camera has shitty battery life).

a macbook gets 10-15 hours on one charge. just how long are you going
to be on battery power without being near an outlet??

having an internal battery means it can have longer run time and be
thinner and more reliable. the user isn't going to replace it anyway.
